There’s no place like home and our home simply wouldn’t be the same without our furry family. The Château is home to two dogs and many cats.

This page is dedicated in loving memory of Antoinette, Monsieur Fluffy, Mr. Simpkin, Tom Kitten, Pompidou and Sir Meowington

Alfie, German Shepherd Cross

We found Alfie at the local animal rescue and jus had to take him home with us. But, it took almost two hours to manage to get him in the car as he was so nervous.

Alfie was found in the mountains after six months of living from leftovers given to him by campers and hikers. It then took another six months for the refuge to catch him as he had been severely abused by his previous owner.

After lots of tender love and care Alfie has settled happily into his new home at the Château. Slowly he has fallen in love with all of us, especially Karina.

Baby Bruce, French Bulldog

We weren’t planning on another dog as we were nervous as to how Alfie would react. As it turns out, Alfie absolutely loves his little brother!

Bruce is very mischievous and truly a bit of a clown… Normally, he wears a GPS collar just in case he decides to take himself on an adventure exploring the countryside!

When he isn’t out exploring, Bruce can be found in the kitchen keeping the chefs company and cleaning up any crumbs.

They cheer up people who are frowning,
And rescue people who are drowning,
They also track mud on beds,
And chew people’s clothes to shreds.

Tinkerbell, Short-Hair Calico

Tinkerbell is the daughter of our very first Château cat, Antoinette. Antoinette had been living at the Château for many years before we arrived and was feral. It took many years of taming her and her sons, who were born shortly after we purchased the Château, to build enough trust before they came to live with us. Antoinette and her two sons have since passed but her daughter, Tinkerbell, still lives at the Château.

For many years Tinkerbell lived in Château’s Pigeon House but has now finally decided that she is part of the family! She loves being cuddled and brushed and demands attention as soon as she arrives in the room!

Claude, Short-Hair Ginger

When our very first Château cat, Antoinette, passed away a local French friend thought we could use some cheering up. And so, he turned up one day on our doorstop with two kittens. His neighbour had found a stray cat with a newly born litter in his barn.

Claude is a little cutie! He loves to sit on laps and enjoys cuddling up in bed with guests (who will let him). He also loves to pose for photos!

Chestnut, Long-Hair Tabby

Jasmine had been admiring a beautiful long-hair tabby cat in the village for some time when one day we saw him limping through the main square. As he was clearly injured we asked around the local area and were told that his owners had moved a few weeks ago and left him. We immediately scooped him up and took him home. When we took him to the vet it turns out he had been shot in the leg and the bullet was still lodged inside!

Chestnut has since recovered and is such a special sweetie. He is now the self-proclaimed King of the Castle. He loves to be the centre of all attention and is completely spoilt by everyone.

Bluebell, Burmese Cross

We found Bluebell when we were regularly visiting a local garden centre and continued to see him roaming around looking more and more dishevelled each time we went to buy plants. We asked the team at the garden centre if he had a home and they said that his owner had passed away some time ago and no one had come to take him in. Hearing this, it wasn’t long before Karina and Jasmine set a cat trap and waited…

After bringing him home Bluebell lived in Karina’s bathroom cupboard for more than six months. He was completely traumatised and had obviously been very mistreated. One day he finally ventured out of the cupboard and Jasmine found him making himself comfortable on her pillow. He has now completely endeared himself to everyone and loves to be made a fuss of. He is a darling little boy that we believe has sadly suffered some brain trauma in the past.

King Louis Cat-orze, Short-Hair Ginger

King Louis arrived at his new home with us in September 2022. We contacted the local vet when they posted online that they needed to find a home for him. When he arrived at the vet this 16 year old sweet boy had severe injuries. He has since recovered and loves to be wrapped in everyone’s arms and cuddled all night long!

Snowy & Olivier

Snowy and Olivier are the newest members to join the Château Family in October 2023. We found them beside the road in Pech, a village just a little further up the mountain. These two little darlings struggled through a very traumatic and sickly first few months at the Château but we hope they are now on the road to recovery.

The Bennet Sisters, French Hens

The Bennet Sisters (named after the sisters of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice) were each hand picked from a local farm to help look over and protect the Château Jardin. They enjoy fossicking about the property clucking and clawing away at the vegetables. Together they live in their chicken house, appropriately named Longbourn.
